If you have never had mincemeat cookies made from None Such condensed mince meat, then this recipe with Ready to use would be pretty good.

These cookies have been a family tradition for as long as I can remember. My grandmother made them with the dried mincemeat and they are our family’s favorite. These cookies are so special that we made them for my mother’s funeral. They were her favorite cookies and she always had several boxes of the dried mincemeat in her freezer so she could make them all year round.

We have eaten these cookies since I was a kid. That is over seventy years. My children, grand children, and great grand children all eat them.

I’m turning 70 in a few weeks. I would love to be able to buy factory direct if that’s a possibility. I would buy several cases at a time. It would be worth it to keep from having to describe the product to every stock person in every grocery store and them not knowing what I’m talking about. And yes, I agree that the other brands I’ve tried weren’t very good. I’m Jonesing for my Prize cookies.

I was almost heartbroken if I couldn’t make these cookies this year. Thank you for continuing to make this mincemeat. It has been a family tradition for over 50 years

Growing up my mother always made mincemeat pie for Thanksgiving and Christmas. When I married I continued the tradition, when I had children I discovered the cookie recipe when they were young and started making the cookies. I am now 75 and my children are 49 and 54. Last week my oldest called me on the phone and while talking he told me for the last couple weeks he has had a craving for my mincemeat cookies. I have to make him some cookies!! When I went to the store for the mincemeat I couldn’t find it! I was told the store no longer carried it, the younger generation no longer buys it!! Talk about shocked! I have only found one store in town that sells it. Please don’t stop making it, maybe we of the “older generation” can start a new trend for using mincemeat again. If my kids are starting to ask for it again maybe others will also. Thank you for being there for us that still want it.

Lost my mom’s mincemeat cookie recipe. So happy to find this one as it’s just like my mom’s. I also add a bit of cinnamon and nutmeg to the recipe.

For the past few years I have the the cookies with the jar mincemeat, although traditional I used the condensed. When using the jar mincemeat, more flour is needed to make sure they don’t spread out as much. I usually double the recipe, so I add about a 1/2 cup more flour. Ideally, the cookies should be rounded, not flat. Can’t wait till the bring back the condensed mincemeat. It makes a chewier and better tasting cookie.

Are you using butter for the shortening or something like Crisco? I have been making British style mince pies for years but they are messy so want to try these.

I use unsalted butter, better tasting than shortening. Make sure your butter is at room temperature. The jar mincemeat makes a cakier cookie as compared to the condensed mincemeat.

Ditto. For me as well. I am 69. My mom only made this cookie at Thankgiving and Chridtmas. It was a special treat. I do not like the ready-to-use because it it not what my Mama used. So, I order the NoneSuch Condensed Mincemeat online.

Can’t find the mincemeat in the small box, is it not available. If I use the mincemeat in the jar would the cookies be the same.

I too have been enjoying these fabulous cookies my whole life (69 years). Unfortunately, I live in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and NOT ONE grocery store in the entire UP carries None Such (or any other brand, for that matter) Mincemeat!!!!! So, no more mincemeat cookies for me………..sad, sad, sad………

      Hello Jennifer,
You can find the NoneSuch jar mincemeat at Amazon BUT it is $$$ more than it should be. However I bit the bullet and got two. Then an informative email direct from NoneSuch gave me a list of some stores that have it (none of them are in my area … northern CA). Sign up with the company to keep you posted on when more stores will have it. I imagine that the Company is working overtime to get product on store shelves. Hope this was helpful for you.

Best with the concentrate as the jar cannot match flavor or consistency. I gave 5 stars based on the concentrate and would only give it a 2 with the jar

This has been a family tradition in my home for as long as I can remember and I’m 62 years old. My grandmother and my mother as well as myself and my sister always have baked this recipe for the holidays, but we have always used the condensed mincemeat. I’m so disappointed that I’m unable to find it anymore but I will try the recipe with the ready to use jarred mincemeat and see how it turns out. Not ready to give up baking mincemeat cookies yet.
