HEAT oven to 400°F. Combine flour, sugar, baking powder and salt in large bowl. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in 1 egg, milk and mincemeat; mix well.
KNEAD dough lightly 10 times on floured surface. Roll out to 1/2-inch thickness; cut into 2-inch circles.
PLACE 1 inch apart on ungreased baking sheets. For a more golden color, brush with beaten egg, if desired.
BAKE 10 to 12 minutes or until golden. Serve warm.
I used buttermilk with this mincemeat. I let the scones rest for about 15 minutes before baking. They needed 17 minutes for a perfect bake. . this is a great recipe.
This calls for the 9oz package, I only have the 22 ounce jar. How do I make the adjustment?
Could you just measure out 9 ounces of the actual pie filling?
